Spa Wood, Lockwood

The aim of the project is to improve and upgrade the infrastructure of the existing Riverside Way. Reinforcement of the gateways to this 950m stretch of cyclepath will ensure its long term success. Recently blighted by an illegal waste site, access has been unpleasant; a relaunch now will promote its existence.

Seating suffers from ponding and weed encroachment. Providing paving will create clearly defined path side resting areas where people can appreciate the river, woodland and wildlife.

Clearing the width of cyclepath surface will improve access for cyclists and pedestrians. Volunteers will plant native shrubs and wildflowers to an open area of the site.In addition, the project will engage in activity to prevent fly tipping occurring on this stretch in the future through the prevention of access through the introduction of a fence by KMBC. In tandem with this, a programme of engagement within the local community forums and schools will seek to educate about fly tipping.
