SPACe, Harpenden - Community Hall Refurbishment (008443)

Southdown Performing Arts Centre (SPACe) is a community performing arts venue in a former Methodist church in Southdown, Harpenden. The project will install a safe, compliant ramp and handrails to the main front and side entrance, removing four hazardous steps and enabling wheelchair users, people with limited mobility, and parents with pushchairs to enter via the same front door as everyone else. It will replace the current alternative access route, which relies on a narrow side path and tight right-angle turn that is difficult and inequitable for many users. The new ramp will provide step-free access from street level to the main and side entrance, improving safety, dignity and inclusion for all visitors.

The application also includes the installation of solar panels.

An additional toilet will be installed as part of this project but this application is solely for the accessibility, associated works and solar panels.
