Sportsfield Drainage for Harbury Rugby Football Club

The playing fields are used by Harbury Rugby, Cricket & Football Clubs.
There has never been adequate drainage since ground acquisition in 1979.
+ Over 200 senior and junior rugby players use the facilities 2-3 times a week.
+ 20-25 footballers use the floodlit training area weekly between October and March.
+ 30 cricketers use the square, nets and outfield 2-3 times each week in the summer.
+ 45 senior, 80 junior and mini rugby & 15 cricket matches are played at Harbury each season with over 10,000 players using the pitches.
+ 4000+ spectators attend each year.

In September 2008 a facilities survey highlighted the need for drainage improvements. The RFU confirmed this and it is included as priority funding for May 2010.

The aims of the project include –

(1) The provision of well managed quality playing surfaces upon which skills and techniques can be developed.
(2) Minimising poor weather cancellation to maintain player interest
