St Andrews Church, Aller – Repairs to Tower Masonry

Urgent structural repairs are required to the tower masonry, much of which is no longer held together by mortar. Fissured merlon linings require rebuilding to avoid laminating sections falling and damaging the roofs below. The tower has erosion of the lias stone, which is worst at high level on the stair turret where the perpend joints reveal daylight indicating the wall is quickly deteriorating. The belfry similarly requires repairs to fissured mullions and outer mouldings.
