St Bartholomew’s, Churchdown: Church Bells Project

Refurbishment of the current ring of six bells at St Bartholomew’s Church, Churchdown.

Purchase five new bells whilst retaining the current Treble Bell (cast in 1933) as the Second Bell in a new ring of six bells.

New fittings and headstocks will be installed throughout.

The new Tenor will weigh about 475kg compared with the existing 585kg.

The existing oak bell frame, built by James E Jacques of Gloucester in 1828, is to be retained.

Two of the existing bells, believed to be sixteenth century, are listed. These are to be retained in the tower, each to be provided with a simple wooden frame.
