St Hugh’s Church, Quethiock – Roof

In 2014 St Hugh’s was awarded a grant to replace the lead between the two roofs. While the scaffold was in place a thorough survey of the roof was undertaken. It became apparent that the nails holding the slates in place were failing and needed urgent replacement. We were unable to raise any further money and the recommendation from Viridor was to apply again as a separate project.This project will start with the construction of bespoke scaffolding to ensure safe working and to support a weatherproof roof to protect the church while the slates are off. The slates will then be removed, timbers checked and the slates renailed. Lead flashing will be replaced. The scaffolding will be removed.
