St James Church, Wirral – Creating a community garden (008154)

The garden is now in need of some major works since the previous volunteers retired. Once the works are completed it will allow greater use of the garden by the local community, the current uneven paths and brambles are a barrier for use. Creating raised beds will enable people with mobility issues to be involved. The Church volunteers already host a small composting scheme and feel that enhancing the garden will allow much greater use not only by the church but the community for outdoor events. The volunteers aim is to encourage people of all ages to become part of the St James’ Garden Team allowing for more social interaction improving both mental and physical health of the community and reducing isolation.
