St James Churchyard, Bermondsey – The Joyslide (006807)

This project will provide a new children’s slide for the playground in St James churchyard, which will honour the unique structure which stood on the same site from 1921 to the mid 1980s. The original slide was supported by Arthur Carr of Peek Frean’s Biscuit Factory in Bermondsey. The new slide has been designed by his great, great grand-son, Fergus Carr, at no cost to the project. The design chosen following public consultation will see a well managed and maintained item of play equipment installed.
