St John the Evangelist, Elkstone – replacement of lead roof to tower and overhaul of rainwater goods

To replace the lead tower roof origianlly installed in 1882 to prevent water ingress to the tower and resultant damage. Also to overhaul the cast iron gutters and downpipes originally installed in the 1840s, to prevent further decay and more costly replacement in the future and to ensure they fulfil their purpose and do not cause damp problems in the building and other issues which can arise from damp and water ingress. Removal of moss from Church stone tile roof to prevent it causing damage. The ultimate aim is to deal with these problems now whilst they have been identified as urgent by the church architect and before matters deteriorate to an extent where substantially more expensive work is required.
