St Mary Major Church, Ilchester – Chancel Roof Repairs

The 2010/11 Quinquennial Inspection report the need for major repairs to the chancel roof was highlighted. The roof is to be stripped back, battens replaced and felt applied before the handmade clay tiles are refitted. The lathe & plaster ceiling which has been covered by fibre boards has to be replaced and insulted for the first time.
