St Mary’s Church, Malpas

St Mary’s church was built in 1850, replacing a chapel, on the site of a Cluniac monastic cell that was established in 1110. In the modern day, St Mary’s is a hub of the community; it is a well-supported church with a membership of 250 and the amenity is open for a range of activities throughout the year. The church roof is over 150 years old and patchwork repairs have been carried out over a long period. Rainwater leaks have become more prevalent during the past two years and a roof condition survey report in 2015 has highlighted the need to undertake substantial repairs. Match funding is in place and this project will contribute towards the re-roofing of the Nave and Chancel.
