St Mary’s Church, Nettlestead – Community Facilities

After critical repairs, St Mary’s is now watertight. They now aim to restore and re-order the interior to create more flexible open community space. With new heating, lighting and facilities for refreshments the church building can offer wider use in the community where it is the only public building.
Relaying floors to enable level access throughout
Removal of 4 pews to create an open space suitable for groups
Water supply and facilities for refreshments,
Storage
Rewiring, new lights and heating
Strip cement render, replace with lime to help with damp
The restoration of the church is half complete. Walls and internal surfaces are in poor condition and heating and lighting are poor and deteriorating. Facilities for use beyond worship are minimal. Without the work the building’s future viability for worship or community use is at severe risk.
