St Mary’s Modernisation 2014, St Mary’s Parish Church, Minera, Wrexham

This project will make a range of improvements and alterations to St Mary’s Church, the only church in the village of Minera and also the only large community space available suitable, for example, for presentations by the local school and small concerts. The works will entail: A ramp to provide wheelchair access to the main door; A toilet and hand basin designed to meet disabled access needs; Some of the under-used pews will be removed to provide a welcoming area and a socialising area; The font will be moved to a more practical position in front of the congregation; A compact kitchen in a cupboard will be provided, screened by folding doors when not in use; Storage of moveable chairs and other equipment will be provided; The vestry room will be refurbished with better insulation, heating and storage; The lighting will be improved to highlight the roof timbers and some of the architectural details; The internal walls and ceiling will be decorated.
