St Nicholas Church, Canewdon

The project aims to replace the floor at the rear of St Nicholas Church in Canewdon. Works will include taking up existing brick pavers and pamments, laying a sub-floor and bedding new pamments and brick pavers. Any undamaged pamments and pavers will be re-used in the replacement floor.
The existing floor is in very poor condition, containing many cracked and broken pamments and pavers which are loose or have risen or sunk, thus making the area uneven and hazardous.
St Nicholas Church is of great historical and architectural interest dating back to 1086. Built on a site of a former church, it has evidence of Roman bricks and links back to 653AD.
