St Nicholas Church Hall – Carbon Neutral Replacement Heating

The grant would enable the church to move towards being carbon neutral by installing a fully electric replacement heating system to the well used community facility. The existing gas heating system, has now failed completely and been declared obsolete by an engineer, and parts cannot be sourced.
Maintaining the hall will enable current users – coming from a wide range of societal segments to continue to benefit from an affordable and accessible community hall. This has a positive cohesion effect particularly as current users include a range of youth organisations. The hall is fully accessible to people with disabilities with level access to all rooms.
The hall is used to provide some training opportunities to students from the aforementioned special school.
Upgrading the heating system will (a) futureproof, and (b) reduce ongoing running costs. The hall is volunteer operated and no new posts are currently expected to be created.
