St Nicolas Church and Community Project Phase Three (b)

A report commissioned from WCAVA highlighted this deprived ward’s needs.This phase of the project (3b) is the initiative and responsibility of the St. Nicolas Parochial Church Council (P.C.C.), which has the intention to work with and serve the whole community. It will take place in enhanced facilities, within the existing Church. The interior of the Church has been partly reordered at a cost of £30,000 funded by church members by replacing pews with chairs, building a dais, moving a screen and pulpit plus a grant of £25,000 from Veolia in 2009 to improve the heating. The church can now be used for physical exercise, concerts and art displays.
Phase Three (b)will see the provision of two rooms in the church, with flexibilty to transform into one space, for parent and toddler activities, mental health counselling, debt counselling, break out groups, health and welfare advice, support for getting people back to work and training areas.
