St Peter and St Paul Bassingbourn Reordering Phase 2

St Peter & St Paul Church in Bassingbourn is Grade I Listed dating back to the 13th century. The church currently lacks basic amenities like running water, proper heating, and accessibility toilets, which severely limits its usability for elderly people, families with young children, and individuals with mobility challenges. The village has been highlighted in local authority commissioned ACRE research as being undersupplied with community space compared to the size of the population.
This reordering project will provide a functional community centre, that can be used much more widely, benefiting the residents of Bassingbourn-cum-Kneesworth and surrounding areas, their craft groups, societies and clubs.
The initial building work has begun and is progressing well. This application is for Phase 2 to complete the work by installing a lift to the newly inserted mezzanine floor, as well as fit out and decoration of kitchen, toilets and other ground floor space.
Faculty approval and listed building consent has been obtained.
