St Peter Stoke Park Heating

St Peter’s Church (SPC) in Stoke Park, Ipswich, is a vital community hub. Built in the 1970’s the building offers a worship space, kitchen and toilets. A large adjoining church hall is permanently let as a nursery and does not form part of this project. Regular weekly groups using the church include Monday meals, toddlers, two uniformed groups, dance and drama, foodbank and a top up shop. Messy church activities are held on a Friday evening and the space is used for Sunday worship. The church organises monthly social events and the space is available for private hire. In January 2024, the gas heating system failed and it was deemed beyond repair. This resulted in many sessions being cancelled as the building was too cold to hold them. In response, and in alignment with the Church of England’s Net Zero 2030 target, the church is now planning to install air to air heat pumps, solar panels, and LED lighting. The upgrades will ensure the building remains warm, energy-efficient, and environmentally sustainable. Biffa Award has been approached to fund the supply and installation of an air conditioning system to include seven indoor units, an external condensing unit, four destratification fans and controls. There are no other public venues in the area.
