St Peter’s Church, De Beauvoir Town, Hackney – provision of a community wildlife garden and other landscaping improvements

To transform the outdoor churchyard space around St Peter’s Church to be as welcoming as possible to visitors. The project will provide a wildlife garden with delightful spaces for contemplation, creativity and refreshment. This will include: (i) planting of formal flower beds; (ii) creation of woodland flora under existing trees; (iii) providing seating and sensory planting (iv) creating a trickle fountain and shaded space for contemplation and remembrance; (v) providing nest boxes for garden birds; (vi) creating a secluded outdoor space for crypt (community facility) users; (vii) creation of an outside seating area for users of St Peter’s Café – a community facility; (viii) creation of a messy play area for under 5’s and after school users; (ix) providing a demonstration space for the resident stone carver; and (x) installing LED lighting.

The project is being funded 50% by GrantScape and 50% by Church Urban Fund through an innovative joint grant programme.
