St Petroc’s Historic Church, Bodmin

The Church has ongoing problems of damp due to blockage of outlets, hoppers and downpipes. This has reflected itself externally in the form of damp stone work and slime. Internally the plaster has been affected, this was particularly noted at the west end of the Church and on the north wall. There have also been problems at the east end and there will if the parapet gutters are not cleared, be problems on the south face. Work is required to address these damp issues both on the roof and walls.

The grant would be used to address the issues faced on the roof on the church, replacing lead work and also secure the structure from rainwater. The roof slating where this abuts the lead work is provided with a lead sacrificial stri to absorb the initial run off of rainwater from the slating. There is inevitably a dripping of rainwater at the joints between the slating where this hits the lead work.
