St Philip’s Church, Eaglesfield, Heating Project

This late Victorian church is a typical, rural, Cumbrian, fellside building, which has suffered from slow deterioration, problems with damp and poor heating and lighting systems. This has limited its use for many activities, but it maintains strong links to the local community and to the nearby school. The current project involves stripping of damp and damaged plaster to the interior wall and its reinstatement with traditional lime plaster, the replacement of an uneconomical and inefficient heating system and the replacement of existing lighting with more energy efficient units. The aim is to provide a more flexible, comfortable, warm and inviting environment to maximise the use of the available space.
