St Richard’s Centre, Birmingham – Community Space Refurbishment (006195)

St Richard’s wants to renovate, restore and develop its substantial facility that was damaged by arson attack. 50% of its area is still unusable. Research and persistent demand show there is a need for more affordable community facilities & services that will improve life chances for the disadvantaged, reduce isolation and build a stronger, more active and healthier community.

St Richard’s Centre already supports a broad spectrum of community services benefiting over 300 people a week, but it is at capacity. Current groups are asking for extra time & space and there is a significant increase in demand from new groups wanting space.

Presently the community uses a large Hall, Lounge, Foyers, Storage, Kitchen, Toilet and ancilliary rooms. This project will create a 2nd large multiuse area to enable youth and children’s work and other support groups to expand and free up the Hall for other groups and activities.
