St Thomas Centre Wolsingham

The St Thomas Centre has been used as a community centre since 1994.
The group looks to provide secure and pleasant accomodation for local groups of people of all ages to follow their pursuits at an affordable price, and to make the building accessible for those people who are elderly or have special needs.
As present the centre has no toilet facilities for disabled people. In order to install one they will need to rearrange existing facilities (i.e., the kitchen) and refurbish the existing toilet facilities.
The existing facilities are unsuitable for the elderly and wheelchair users. Recommendations were made following an Access Audit Report carried out by Wear Valley District Access Forum. Groups find the location and private parking very advantageous. However, some people are excluded and other groups are finding it difficult to operate there because of exising facilities.
