Stanford Recreation Ground User Group (see application 287167.096)

This is an approved project which has suffered several delays. Most recently these delays were caused by Thurrock Council taking 14 months to agree a lease for the group. This caused considerable delays in the successful tenderer being able to start work. Information provided by the council about the site has proved inadequate and underground pipe and cables have been discovered causing additional work by the contractor. Although this has not happened to date. The group does not want to raise this issue as it may promote a claim from the contractor. My Trust has been asked to consider setting aside a contingency sum of 10% of the contract costs ie £20,000.This sum would only be used if the contract incurrs additional costs that are clearly outside of the original specification. A detailed specification was used for the competitive tendering process.
