Stanway Village Hall, Nr Colchester – Refurbishment (20112/D)

The project aims to refurbish the village hall. The Village Hall was built in 1968 and has single glazed metal windows throughout, wooden doors and leaking guttering. Energy costs have been escalating over recent years and these increases will not be sustainable. Whilst annually hire charges are reviewed, it is not possible to increase them enough to meet these costs. The majority of our users are local organisations/people and as the Village Hall was built for their benefit from funds collected in memory of those we lost in the World Wars we try to keep charges at a fair price. As a committee we are aware of our environmental duties and therefore decided on the refurbishment as the most ethical route to take for the benefit of our users, local community and the environment.
The Trust grant will contribute towards the refurbishment.
