Projects / Stirley Community Farm

Stirley Community Farm

Stirley Farm is currently unused but will be restored as a beef social enterprise to underpin a much wider community programme based around local food production and growing that integrates local people. The programme includes allotments, orchards, food festivals, education provision and training programmes. Young and old alike will be encouraged to grow their own food using training allotments and, most importantly, allowing people to share their knowledge and passion with others. An orchard will be planted and high quality food will be celebrated through events. The project will also encourage access into formerly private urban fringe countryside. With professional staff, the project will involve at least 30 full-time or part time employed, training and volunteering placements.
Landfill funds will be used for staffing, volunteer support and training, promotion, access track restoration, stone barn restoration as well as the restoration of the farmyard as a community focal point.
