Stoke St Michaels Church & Community Hall, Coventry – Community Building Refurbishment (007454)

The community building was built in the 1960’s to accommodate the growing population coming to work at the new Coventry University Hospital. Originally the hall was erected quickly and cheaply with a mix of brick and uPVC walls and single glaze windows, common at the time. Sixty years on, with reduced structural integrity, weather worn and poor heat retention, the uPVC walls are no longer fit for purpose and are detaching from the main frame. The toilet block is showing age wear and tear, water damage and damp, emanating from internal piping and poor/broken underground drainage. The damp has spread into lobby/reception giving a poor first impression for potential new user groups and unpleasant for regular users. The project works will resolve damp, restore the building fabric throughout and reconfigure the toilets, making the building greener, easier to maintain and securing venue longevity for use by local community.
