Stokesley Play Park (Formerly North Road Park)

Stokesley (population 5600, 550 children < 8) has 4 very small and neglected play-areas. North Road Playing Field, which contains the mair play-area, is located close to the town centre, adjacent to the former council estate. In recent years the playing field and the existing old and dilapidated play-area on the site has not attracted many users, also due to problems with litter and antisocial behaviour. In 2008 a group of local parents (SPAAG) has raised concerns about the state of the field and the lack of adequate play facilities for children. After extensive consultation, a new park has been designed. Ultimately the park will include paths, lighting, seating, a garden area, a football field, a wheels area and two separate play areas for younger & older children. This project registration is for the element of the play area for younger children. The new play area will contain play equipment at the age group which is safe, fun and challenging in a landscaped park. Please see sheet.
