Storage Solution, Straight Road Community Centre Ltd, Colchester

This is a project to provide a new, purpose-built, storage area to enable Straight Road Community Centre to fulfil its functions efficiently and safely. The organisation currently has a lean-to area between the small hall and the kitchen area. This lean-to is currently full with various hirers’ equipment. There is also a fire exit through the storage area, which includes three steps down, and so it is not DDA compliant. To address these issues, the new storage area will be fully DDA compliant and will include a ramp at the fire exit. Hirers have also requested more chairs, so the organisation has recently purchased an additional 40 chairs on a rack. These have to be stored in the small hall, meaning that the small hall cannot currently be hired on its own, or as part of a hire package.
