Stream Channel (Gill) Restoration/Creation – WWT Washington

The site at WWT Washington is designed to raise awareness of wetlands and their biodiversity and apart from attracting visitors to the site to view the variety of wilfowl on site it also supports a wide range of important natural habitats, including woodlands, grassland shallow wetlands and reed swamp. This project is to create and restore over 0.5 km of stream channel and over 15 ponds to include typical geomorphic, hydoologic and habitat features from a series of degraded pools. To provide water quality improvements which in turn will provide conditions for the introduction of key biodiversity action species including White-clawed Crayfish and Water Vole.
