Study centre refurbishment

This project aims to make the Middlewood Trust Study Centre more user friendly, to encourage greater use and facilitate the delivery of more environmental education. This will be achieved by refurbishing the study centre in line with plans developed by architects as part of a “community design” project part funded by Lancashire County Council. The work includes:
Refurbish existing toilet and shower facilities.
Renew drainage and extend the reed bed.
Provide new disabled accessible toilet and shower facilities.
Create new ‘family’ bedroom.
Install new solar thermal hot water system.
Refurbish the kitchen area and upgrade the catering equipment.
Redecorate throughout.
Provide interpretation on sustainable features of the building.
Improved access to the building and the composting toilets.
