Suffolk Community Barn Owl project phase 2 – Northwest Suffolk Catchments

The Barn Owl is a protected species and appears on the “Amber List” and is a targeted species in the LBAP. Its numbers in Suffolk are in decline.

The project is to expand the breeding range of the Barn Owl from its NE Suffolk stronghold to the whole of the county and to increase the number of breeding pairs from c150 to c450 by 2010 by providing alternative, man-made nesting sites.

The project aims to cover the whole of Suffolk and is initially divided into three separate geographical areas covering: Northeast Suffolk, Southeast Suffolk and Northwest Suffolk. This specific project covers the Northwest Suffolk Catchments of the Lark/Blackbourne/Linnet, Little Ouse/Thet river
