Sunbury and Walton Sea Cadets Aquadock

We need a new jetty system so that boats can be easily launched and lifted out of the water. This will benefit all users carrying out boating on the premises not just cadets. The current jetty system was gifted by the royal naval dockyard 25 years ago and was adequate at that time as boats were left in the river throughout the boating season. Over time, the jetties have degraded and less robust plastic boats have been introduced, which need to be lifted in and out each time they are used. These boats are heavy and awkward to manoeuvre representing a risk to the youngsters launching the boats creating resistance to using them. The time taken to launch also reduces the time on the water. Both issues are resolved by replacing the jetties with a modern modular system on which the new boats may be accessed and launched. For cadets with disabilities such as ADHD, Autism and Tourette’s (6 youngsters) and behavioural issues, we see safe access onto and off the water as a key outcome.
