Sundial for the Walled Garden

The one major thing missing in our walled garden, which is usually found in traditional walled gardens is a ‘central feature’ and would greatly improve this area of public park. Its style and layout to a formal flower garden was either laid out, or influenced by the Victorian J J Sexby, who was the London County Council’s first Superintendent of Parks. After much research, both on the internet and by visiting other parks (in particular Roundwood Park in Brent where we saw an armillary sundial which would be ideal for the walled garden) we have concluded that the most appropriate item would be an armillary sundial. This would be a major improvement, educational and strong enough to resist vandalism. We also need to renew some of the planting in the area where the sundial is to be placed.
