Supporting Disabled and Able-Bodied people to exercise together effectively and safely

The Samson Centre for MS has a comprehensive activity programme for 250 registered disabled people. The Gym is an essential element of the Centre, currently with a range of second hand donated equipment. This has been extensively used and is 30 plus years old. The equipment was not designed for the specialist needs of disabled people. This project will allow easy access and designed equipment to support and engage more disabled people into exercise.

The equipment proposed for the Gym is ideally suited for the range of disabilities associated with MS but has the added value of supporting able bodied users as well. The integration of able and disabled people is a unique characteristic of the Centre. The Centre operates within a building which supports a wider audience from across the community, other users of the Centre include Wey Kayak Club, Surrey University, Guildford Lions and Sub Aqua Club of Surrey the total users of the one building is in excess of 1,000 with an estimated 350,000 visits annually
