Sustainability of our local community building

CWA Brass Band operates from a building in Carrickfergus, County Antrim. The building has two halls, one hall is for community use and another which is soundproofed is used for rehearsals and concerts. Additionally, the facility includes two small storage rooms and toilets. The soundproofed hall is used by the CWA junior and senior brass bands for practice sessions three times each week, and the community hall operates as a social club every day from 5pm to 11pm. Wider weekly users include a Masonic meeting attracting six people and a pool team attracting eight people. There is very limited wider ad-hoc use, and the social club host a quiz every month. CWA has undertaken community consultation, and improving and maintaining the facilities will allow the organisation to increase access to a range of proposed community events and new groups, primarily musical and youth led, alongside social activities. Series of improvements will be undertaken including renovating the toilets, replacing seven fire doors in the corridor, replace flooring in the main hall, and to replace damaged roof slates to prevent water ingress.
