Sustainable Swimming – Solar Thermal Project, Willenhall School Sports College

This is a project is to install a solar thermal heating system on to the swimming pool of Willenhall School. This will include the mounting of the system on the flat roof of the building and ensuring its correct integration with the existing plant room. Willenhall School Leisure and Community is the centre of the local community. The building is not only a school which caters for over 1600 students, but also a venue for local people to come and make use of the facilities for health, recreation and adult education purposes. Walsall MBC made the decision to close Willenhall Leisure Centre last year due to budget constraints. This closure has meant that residents have to travel greater distances to access quality and affordable leisure facilities. Willenhall School has stepped in and bridged the gap left by the closure and has housed several swimming schools and provided lessons for the children that were affected by the closure.
