The Eglinton Growers Allotments and Community Gardens is a site of over 3.77 hectares which lies to the north-east of Irvine Road, Kilwinning. The site consists of 96 plots in a range of sizes, a raised bed area for less abled gardeners, a tool resource base to encourage people to walk to the site or use public transport, a mini-orchard, a communal garden area, a community hub and picnic area. There is also a path network throughout the site which is utilised by members and local residents for access to plots and facilities, dog walking or exercise. Access has been improved through the erection of an additional gate at the north side of the site to allows local people and residents of Buckreddan Care Home to enter the site without the need to walk down a busy main road. The site is open to the general public for the exactly the same amount of time as it is open to members.
