Swanage Sea Rowing Club (SSRC) New Gig Shed

SSRC currently house their Gigs in a Poly-tunnel on “borrowed land” at Eldon Road. The site is now to be re-developed and the Club have negotiated a long term lease on Town Council owned land on the other side of Eldon Road. As the site is in an AONB, Purbeck Heritage Coast and Conservation Area, the District Planning Authority has required the new shed to be dug into the site with a grass roof and extensive use of natural stone on exposed elevations. This has added considerably to the cost. The new shed will allow the club to keep all it Gigs under cover and is close to the sea to allow hand launching to continue.
