Sward management at Hipton Hill

This Project will allow us to continue with the management of the orchard grassland, vital for the survival of the wildflowers and associated pollinators. We will purchase a tractor and front-mounted topper to mow at appropriate times of year, allowing the wildflowers to set seed while controlling invasive bramble and hawthorn that would soon take over the orchard, out-competing the old plum trees. The tractor will also be used in our other orchards requiring the same management to increase floral diversity at these sites as well.
