Projects / Swinden Cycle Track

Swinden Cycle Track

The aim of the project is to attract new cyclists and more new people to cycling in the borough. The project will provide a secure and plesant amenity for a variety of existing cycle schemes in Pendle and will engage people in cycling whether it is to learn to ride a bike for leisure, to progress to longer guided rides, to cycle in a discreet environment i.e. women only groups or to gain skills to lead up to cycle racing. These aims are also outlined in Pendle Council’s Cycling Strategy. The aim of the project is also to continue the legacy of the 2012 Olympic Games and the hub will be named after Colne’s Gold Medalist Steven Burke.
