SWT Orwell Estuary Hinterland Habitat Project

To carry out an assessment of the Orwell Hinterland (c3,500 ha) to locate and evaluate BAP habitats of importance, and to identify opportunities to enhance these habitats for a number of BAP species, including water vole, pipistrelle bat, skylark, grey partridge, song thrush, great crested newt, stag beetle, linnet, reed bunting, turtle dove and barn owl. The results will be included in the Orwell Estuaries Management Plan, and will allow key partners to promote uptake of the Environmental Stewardship Scheme through advice and training for landowners.
