Teesdale Way Improvement Project

The Teesdale Way explores the course of the River Tees for some 160km, from its source on the high moors of Cross Fell in the Cumbrian North Pennines to its outlet at Redar on the north east coast. The 9 miles of this trail running through Redcar and Cleveland provides a fascinating cross- section of the borough’s social, cultural and economic life and is much enjoyed and cherished local asset.
We would like to improve the trail by providing specially sculptured signposts at junctions of the RCB section of the trail. The signposts would be specially designed and sculptured by a local artist to match the barriers already on the route. New signposts from road junctions would promote the route and increase its ease of use, particularly for visitors to the area. A specially designed end marker for this 109 mile hike would be an attractive finish point. This proposal is supported by a number of local businesses who use the trail for fundraising events.
