Telford Elim Community Church, Telford – Extension (006480)

The Elim Church opened in 2012 in this high-density area between Leegomery (MDI rating of 10%); and Hadley (MDI rating of 20%); the local BME element is 30% within a population of 11,500. To meet the need for greater community provision, planning permission has been obtained for a self-contained annex to the current building, providing a two-part activity room, a storage area and toilet at the rear of the existing structure, providing 80 m2 of additional usable space. This will double user capacity. Current activities provide for younger teenagers, Christmas & Easter Kids Clubs, older people, drop-in coffee morning, community events eg Black History Month and outreach support for community members of all ethnicities and cultures. The church also works in partnership with other churches and local schools in their venues. The new annexe will provide an informal but safe space for the whole community and young people to access advice, support, activities, pursue hobbies or relax with friends.
