Telford Woods

Working within the scope of relevant management plans, and monitoring impact through Woodland Condition Assessments, the project will deliver a programme of woodland improvement (for net biodiversity gain) across a network of ecologically-linked small woodlands, and adjacent habitats, within Telford.
Building upon a recent period of community engagement and pilot activity the project will:
Support existing voluntary green spaces groups and ‘Community Woodlander’ roles in delivering woodland management, facilitating corporate and educational (school and college) work parties, and deliver a programme of ‘on-the-job’ skills training (e.g. hedge-laying, tree planting, coppicing, bat box construction and installation etc) as required.
Facilitate the participation of community-based volunteers and ‘Social Forestry’ programme participants in suitable woodland conservation activity across areas without active existing community groups, and in areas identified as suitable to be sustained through coppice management.
