Ten Acre Woods Restoration Project

Ten Acre Wood is a London Wildlife Trust nature reserve, with an active volunteer group and regular walks and activities arranged through our River Crane Community project. This site is in need of vital ditch restoration works. Enhancement of this valuable ditch network (UK and London BAP habitat for Rivers and Streams) and woodland habitat will result in a measurable increase in biodiversity that will benefit many species, including bats, and potentially water vole (UKBAP/London BAP). The ditches throughout the reserve have become heavily overgrown with scrub and have silted up – extensive de-silting and scrub removal is needed to bring them up to a favourable condition. Local volunteers will be engaged to help with restoration works. Access improvement works will be undertaken across the site to allow people to access and experience the natural reserve. This project will significantly enhance aesthetics of the site, creating an accessible nature reserve for wildlife and people.
