Thames Project

The aim is to improve the riverside environment and the waterway by delivering clearance and conservation work in defined locations alongside the Thames.

We work in partnership with Thames Landscape Strategy and the Environment Agency who provide the schedule of works.

The work will be delivered by teams of volunteers, working off our boat, including members of the community, young people from our alternative education programme, and offenders on Community Payback, led by our Environmental Trainer.

Offenders and volunteers have the opportunity to develop their skills in environmental work and to complete OCN modules in Heritage Management. Some volunteers need additional support as they may be recovering from substance misuse or mental health issues. We aim to inspire and educate them about the environment, to improve their practical skills and to enable them to gain relevant accreditation.
