The Allotment Market Stall (TAMS)

The Allotment Market Stall runs a market stall selling excess produce from Aberdeen City allotments.
Proceeds are redistributed to the allotments to improve them for the following season. The majority of our
work is carried out by volunteers most aged over 55 who have an interest in gardening or cooking. They
use this knowledge to pass on tips to customers on growing their own fruit and vegetables and on cooking
what they buy.
We work in conjunction with Aberdeen City Council and Community Food Initiative North East to improve
access to high quality, local, well priced fruit and vegetables. What is not sold on the market stall is
donated to the Aberdeen City Food Bank Partnership.
This season, 2014, we collected 1005kg of produce, sold 816kg, donated 146kg to the food bank and composted 43kg.
Our stall is situated in a park that borders onto areas of deprivation and we produce multilingual leaflets
to target disadvantaged communities as well as working with older people and young families.
