The Amazons of Ardwick

The House where Elizabeth Gaskell and her family lived from 1850-1913 is the main asset held by Manchester Historic Buildings Trust. It is a Grade II* listed building in the Ardwick area of Manchester. This project will contribute towards the larger First Floor Redevelopment Project which will develop a new and improved visitor offer on the first floor of the House. We have identified the following ways we can achieve the aims of this project: 1. Increase the number of original/unique items on display through improved display cases, interpretation and access to digitised documents. 2. Create a new permanent exhibition area 3. Develop new material and learning activities to expand on themes for KS1 and KS2 school activities and families
