The Birch Community Centre (Roof and exterior refurbishment)

The Birch Community Centre in Rusholme is an unlisted historic building designed as a Parish Hall by architect James Medland Taylor in 1897. It was founded to benefit the education and wellbeing of the community and has served the area for over a century. In the summer of 2020 we commissioned an historic buildings specialist (Kepczyk Pearce Sanderson) surveyors’ quinquennial report and costings for essential work on the building to ensure its resilience and sustainability. The resulting report recommended £90,000 of work, including essential repairs to the roof and rainwater drainage. We have been conditionally awarded the Biffa Community Buildings Award of £75,000 to have this work carried out and have chosen Bullen Conversation as our preferred contractors. We have secured our 10% Contributing Third Party payment via fundraising in line with Entrust guidelines.
